Each region in India lends a distinct color to the vivid mosaic of dance and one would get to witness the same at Nrityanjali as classical and folk dance performances mesmerize on-lookers.
Amita Mathur
Amita Mathur is a proficient Kathak dancer, trained in the dance form for about 9 years under the tutelage of Guru Nirupama Rajendra. She has performed at various dance festivals such as Virasat, Gaganachukki waterfall festival etc. and choreographed for various corporate events. She imparts dance as education and a medium of personality enhancement at a personality development academy in Bangalore and has worked out programs in corporates for the same. She is also being trained in salsa and other western dance forms to explore the extensibilities of dance.
She has also judged the dance event @ IIMB, Unmaad 2010, 2011. As a young aspiring dancer and choreographer, Amita Mathur wishes to bring classical dance form to the masses, not as a recreational or religious buzz, but as a medium of personality development.

Mathangi
Round faced and doe eyed, what is impressive about Matangi is that she is ideally made for Indian Dance. Her expressive eyes and cheerful demeanor only add to her vibrant personality. Needless to say, Matangi's parents Smt.Neela Devi and Sri. Ravi Prasan, were quick to identify this quality in her early years and introduced her to the world of bharathanatyam. Matangi was initiated into Bharathanatyam at the age of four, when she began her training under Nrithya kala bharathi Smt.S.Divya Sena at the Kalpakkam Dance School. In 2006 Matangi moved to Bangalore to continue her education, and subsequently, came under the tutelage of Gurus Kiran Subramanyam and Sandhya Kiran at their institution for dance RASIKA.
Since then, Matangi has won many laurels for herself, in Bharathanatyam. She has been adjudged the best Dancer in several inter-schools and inter-collegiate competitions. In 2002 and 2009 she won the first prize in the "Tha Ka Dhi Mi Tha" a popular dance competition aired on JAYA TV. She is also the first Rank holder for the year 2006, of the Junior Examinations in Dance, held by Karnataka State Education Board. In 2007, Matangi was awarded the Best Dancer at Rasika. She completed her Rangapravesham in Dec 2007.
She has worked with the Indian contemporary dance company Nrutaruthya in the year 2008. She also lead the Contemporary dance teams in her college. She is also the rolling shield holder of the prestigious Competition - Gopinath das nyasa conducted by Prabhat kalavidaru in the year 2008. In the year 2009 she stood first in the Bangalore Division in Senior Examination in Bharathanatyam.
She worked as a Bharathanatyam teacher in the Sadhana School of Music and Dance in the year 2010. She is a principle member of the Rasika Dance Ensemble and performs with them in both National and International Dance festivals. She is also a graded artiste of Doordarshan. True to the nature of her inner spirit, and with the blessings elders and gurus, Matangi intends to continue her love affair with Dance, for many more years to come.
- A team should have a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 10 people (exclusive of all helpers)
- Registrations will be accepted online through the website prior to the event. No spot registrations are allowed
- Only one team per college is allowed.
- There will be only one round in this event
- The maximum duration for the dance is 10 minutes. Teams exceeding time limit will be penalized
- The dance form has to be either folk or classical (regional dance). Eg: Bhangra, kathak, Bharatnatyam, dandiya, karagattam etc
- The entire dance sequence should be based on only ONE style of dance- teams switching from one style to another will be disqualified.
- Points will be awarded for costumes
- Choice of song is left to the teams.
- Use of fire (including diyas, candles or lighters) and water is not allowed
- Teams should bring along people to manage sound and light
- Teams are required to bring their own music in the form of CDs (teams are required to provide2 copies on 2 separate CDs - no cassettes) and hand these over to the organizers at least 3 hours before the event commences
